Authoring the city is a research project at the Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht, about urban space as a communication platform and – device. It covers individual and collective research projects.

Its starting point is the assumption that the city not only features long-term communication through architectural and urban interventions, but also short-term, non-official and informal communication: printed matter (flyers, posters, billboards), graffiti, festivals, art in public space, spoken tours...
